The Alfred University Saxons compete in NCAA Division lll sports.  It has 23 men's and women's varsity teams including men's lacrosse, women's volleyball and skiing.   Alfered is the second oldest coeducational college in the United States and one of the earliest nineteenth century colleges to have enrolled African American and Native American students. 

The Houghton College  Highlanders are a NCAA Division lll college.  Sports are an important part of campus life, for the1,000+ students, who come from across the nation and around the globe.  Houghton is part of the Empire 8 Athletic Conference
